Tri-Cities Airport Receives $4 Million FAA Grant
for Terminal Improvements
Pasco, WA – The Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) has been awarded a $4 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fund future terminal improvements. The grant will launch the first phase of several projects, beginning with expanding the airport’s baggage makeup room. These enhancements will improve services for passengers, visitors, and the entire Tri-Cities region.
Modernizing the baggage makeup area kicks off a phased approach that will update the baggage handling system and make way for the installation of new jet bridges. These projects are key components in the airport’s commitment to enhancing PSC’s infrastructure, ensuring it meets the needs of the growing Tri-Cities region for years to come.
“We’re grateful to Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell for securing the federal funding that will allow us to make several important upgrades,” said Buck Taft, Director of Tri-Cities Airport. “This grant will enable us to modernize our baggage system. It’s an important first step in a terminal expansion that will take place over the next ten years.”
The funds were awarded as part of the federal Airport Terminal Program, which under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law works to address aging airport infrastructure through funding for safe, sustainable, and accessible airport terminals, airport-owned airport traffic control towers, and on-airport projects that improve multimodal connection.
“As Tri-Cities continues to expand and improve its visitor experience, I’m thrilled to announce this federal funding,” shared Senator Patty Murray, who, along with Senator Maria Cantwell helped bring the grant to Tri-Cities Airport. “By supporting work on more boarding bridges, more baggage area, and other improvements—these funds will help ensure every visitor gets a first-class experience.”
“The Tri-Cities Airport is critical to Central Washington’s continued economic growth,” added Senator Cantwell. “This funding will enable the airport to accommodate larger planes by adding three additional passenger boarding bridges. With a record 872,000 travelers in 2023, this grant will help Tri-Cities Airport keep pace with demand and future growth.”
