Avelo Airlines Takes off for Pasco
New nonstop service makes travel between Southern California and Tri-Cities Airport easier
than ever
BURBANK, Calif., PASCO, Wash., April 29, 2021 — America’s first new mainline airline in nearly 15 years — Avelo Airlines — took off for its first flight from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) this morning, commencing the first-ever nonstop air service between Hollywood and the Tri-Cities region.
Avelo flight XP 103 departed BUR at 8:00 a.m. local time and arrived into PSC at 10:20 a.m. The aircraft was greeted with a water cannon salute and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the gate. The inaugural flight from PSC to BUR departed soon after at 11:00 a.m., with a 1:30 p.m. scheduled arrival at BUR.
“We are so happy to welcome Avelo Airlines to the Tri-Cities community,” said Buck Taft, Airport Director. “The LA basin is one of our region’s top destinations, and we know that Tri-Cities residents will enjoy the convenience of the new airline’s low cost and high value.”
The new service comes as the Tri-Cities Airport rebounds from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Including the Burbank route, PSC will have nonstop service to ten destinations this summer—its highest offering yet.
"The modern and convenient Tri-Cities Airport is the largest in the Southeastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon region, and we are excited to offer additional service to meet the proven demand to and from the area," said Avelo, Founder, Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy.
With everyday low fares starting at $19, Avelo’s three-times-per-week service between PSC and BUR will make it easier than ever to enjoy some of the Tri-Cities region’s most popular destinations. The route will be served by 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft – one of the most fuel-efficient commercial aircraft in the world – providing customers with a large, comfortable cabin with more room, more seats and more seating options than the regional aircraft typically serving PSC.
"Our low fares will connect greater Southern California to Kennewick, Pasco and West Richland, which are famous for the water sports found at the three area rivers as well as the over 200 wineries located within a one-hour radius. And for those considering LA for their next getaway, BUR is the ultra-convenient, stress-free gateway to Greater LA. No airport is closer to downtown LA, Hollywood, Pasadena and other attractions throughout Southern California,” added Levy.
For both departing and arriving customers, BUR — named the 2019 “Best U.S. Airport” by Fodor’s Travel — offers a refreshingly hassle-free experience, including seamless curbside pickup and drop-off, smaller crowds, shorter walking distances from curb to gate, unrivaled speed for plane-to-carousel bag delivery, and shorter TSA security lines.
Avelo Airlines flight XP 103 departs BUR on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. arriving in PSC at 10:20 a.m. local time; flight XP 104 departs PSC at 11:00 a.m., arriving in BUR at 1:30 p.m.
